For the weekend we have prepared a list of films that have been defined by music, with a good part of each movie dedicated to music. These are films about famous bands or musicians or famous musicals.

We start with three movies dedicated to famous bands.

The Doors

The first is a biographical film about the rise and fall of Jim Morrison, along with the band called The Doors, which he established in 1965. The story of the band‘s great success alternates with the singer's frequent self-destructive escapades, which eventually led to his premature death at the age of 27.

Pink Floyd: The Wall

Another film that became a cult movie is about the band called Pink Floyd. The Wall works with symbolic scenes about the loneliness and isolation of humans, about the walls we are building around ourselves . . . all very well integrated with Pink Floyd’s songs.

Walk the Line

A film that follows the career of the man who showed up in 1955 under the name Johnny Cash and created a legend that became an inspiration for a generation of future artists from various genres.

The Phantom of the Opera

From biographical movies we move to musicals. Phantom of the Opera, based on the French novel Le Fantôme de l'Opéra, is the story of disfigured genius musician who lives under the Opera Populaire and who becomes obsessed with the soprano Christine Daaé. The movie is accompanied by music by Andrew Lloyd Webber.

Singin' in the Rain

Starring Gene Kelly and Debbie Reynolds in the leading roles, Singin‘ in the Rain became the most successful musical of all times, with some of the most memorable songs.
