In 2013, Leigh Woods, Project Manager at Youth Time International Movement quit his job and the comfortable lifestyle that came with it in order to pursue his passion. After spending 3 months living and studying on a private game reserve in South Africa’s eastern cape, he spent the following few travelling along the beautiful mountainous shores of the Garden Route before reaching Cape Town.

Between 2013-2016, Leigh Woods, Project Manager at Youth Time made his living in the small landlocked east African country of Rwanda. Aware of his fortune and the privilege he had to live in a region that boasted jaw-dropping scenery, a rich culture and majestic wildlife, his innate desire to explore became unleashed. In this article, he documents his journey through the southern parts of Rwanda’s beautiful neighbor nation, Uganda.

Ask anybody and you´ll get a quite similar answer: „I want to see the country before it changes“.  Traveling into a Marxist–Leninist socialist state is a different kind of holiday, catapulting you straight into history . . . Tourism in Cuba has been growing rapidly since the ‘80s. Tourism – now counting more than two million visitors per year – is one of the island’s main revenue sources. But obviously there is much more to this country than history and politics.
